Rihanna and Lady Gaga Didn't Really Get "Silly"

Posted by Marvin on 17 May 2009,Filed under News.

Looks like Kanye West might be the "Silly Boy" everyone's talking about.

On Tuesday, the "Heartless" artist posted a track on his blog claiming it was a collaboration between Rihanna and Lady Gaga. And with lyrics like "You had a good girl, good girl / But didn't know how to treat her," speculation that the song was a pointed statement about Chris Brown was inevitable.

However, despite the sound and a bunch of wishful thinking, "Silly Boy" doesn't feature performances by either star.

"It's indeed a fake," Lady Gaga's rep tells E! News.

Rihanna's rep also told Us Weekly the vocalist on the track wasn't her.

Darn. Now, we're just waiting for West's all-caps explanation.

Gaga working with RedOne & Akon for new album?

Posted by Amy on 16 May 2009,Filed under News.

Lady GaGa is rumored to enter studio and cook up new materials for her second studio album with RedOne and Akon. She is also said to work on the new record with Darkchild (Janet Jackson, Britney Spears), Fernando Garibay (Paris Hilton, Ashlee Simpson), and Jim Jonsin (Beyonce Knowles, Soulja Boy).

Beside making music for her own effort, Lady GaGa also helps other artists crafting their songs. She has written tracks for established singers, such as Stacy Ferguson a.k.a Fergie and New Kids On The Block. And, she recently joined forces with Mark Ronson’s protege, Wale, in a song called “Chillin’” and is currently shooting its music video with the new rapper.

In the meantime, Lady GaGa has been hitting the road to support her debut album “The Fame”. She still has at least eight joint gigs with The Pussycat Dolls until the end of May. After that, she will perform at the Isle of MTV music event in Malta on July 8 alongside Black Eyed Peas, Metro Station and Esmee Denters before taking a break from touring in August following her alleged near-collapse experience during Atlanta’s concert in April.

Track Posted On Kanye’s Blog Not Rihanna & Lady Gaga’s

Posted by Amy on 16 May 2009,Filed under .

A new song Kanye West imbedded into his blog on Monday, and which many purported to be Rihanna featuring Lady Gaga, is a fake according to reps for the singers.

Publicists for Rihanna and Lady Gaga both told Access Hollywood that the song, “Silly Boy,” a cut about a guy attempting to make amends with a woman only to be denied for all the mistakes he’s made, said the two women are not behind the song.

Rihanna’s rep said she is not on the track and Lady Gaga’s publicist released a statement denying her involvement to Access.

“The song is a fake… It’s not Lady Gaga,” the blonde pop star’s rep said in the statement.

On Wednesday, the song was still posted on Kanye’s blog.

Lady Gaga Has Designs on an Artful Career

Posted by Amy on 16 May 2009,Filed under News.

Pop stars are constantly threatening to design clothing lines, but with the exception of Justin Timberlake, Sean Combs, or Gwen Stefani, they seldom do more than daydream aloud about their hypothetical companies on “Access Hollywood.” Then there’s Lady Gaga. The pantless pop wonder has not only been talking about starting her own clothing line, but true to form, she envisions her designs as the art of the future. “My intention is to one day have the Lady Gaga exhibit at the [Museum of Modern Art],” she told People magazine.

Not since Madonna’s early 1980s arrival has a pop star’s success been so closely tied to her wardrobe. Lady Gaga, a native New Yorker born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta 23 years ago, has created her own superstar reality by arriving at events dressed like a good-time Judy Jetson, eschewing pants, using mirror-covered bras as formal wear, or carrying a tea cup around London as if it were a prized Birkin bag. She began all of this before her album, “The Fame,” produced any hits (you know Gaga best for “Poker Face” or “Just Dance.”) In other words, she started dressing like a star before she was one.

It is a brilliant strategy. One quick look at the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart reveals that dance music does not sell records in the United States unless you go by a single name (Beyoncé, Madonna) or you were a former Mouseketeer (Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera). Otherwise, the charts tend to be filled with hip-hop, rock, “American Idol” contestants, or Miley Cyrus. What’s a lady to do? Go fashion gaga and get herself noticed, natch, thereby standing out from the pack and getting her music played.

Lady Gaga’s throbbing dance-pop tunes are catchy, but if she pulled up at the airport dressed like Carrie Underwood instead of arriving in a PVC corset and high boots, would she have managed a No. 1 hit? Fortunately, we’ll never know.

Those in music and fashion have a habit of liberally borrowing inspiration, and La Gaga is no different. Last week in Boston, she opened for Kelly Clarkson wearing a series of her own designs - which she acknowledges are inspired by some of her favorite designers. But to say they were inspired by them may be a bit of a stretch. Her infamous bubble dress is a full-on knock-off of a Hussein Chalayan 2007 runway dress. But to have a young pop star so smitten with avant garde fashion is an unusual proposition. Hip-hop artists have a habit of latching on to luxury labels - this means you, Kanye - but to have a young dance music singer emerge from New York’s art and party scene and speak of her love of Valentino and Karl Lagerfeld is not an everyday event.

“This is how I am all the time,” she casually told the London Times as she strutted like a tarted up pigeon in a Thierry Mugler-inspired black rubber dress decked out with gold origami pyramids before a show. “You’ll never see me in flip-flops and a T-shirt.”

She has not only distilled looks from the runway, but also from fellow performers. Much like her musical origins, Lady Gaga’s stylistic origins can be traced back to Madonna, Aguilera, Kylie Minogue, Stefani, and even the original grandmothers of shock-pop dressing: Cher and Wendy O. Williams. But where Madonna and mid-career Aguilera seemed serious about presenting themselves as objects of sexual desire, Lady Gaga’s take on sex feels more like an art school project. Her music hints at sex, and her look is built around showing skin, but it’s all tongue-in-cheek, like when she coos: “I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got” on “Poker Face.”

Her style influence is in its infancy, but at the Boston show last week, there were packs of young women toying with Gaga-esque touches to their wardrobes such as high skirts and exaggerated eye makeup, and she’s already amassed the required gay following. Perhaps more of her influence could be seen earlier this month when Madonna arrived at the Costume Institute Gala in New York looking like a dominatrix dressed like a blue satin Easter bunny that was running away to join the circus. It was the kind of outfit only one other blonde - who also speaks in a measured, faux-British accent - could possibly pull off: Lady Gaga.

What will a clothing line from Lady Gaga look like? She’s been coy at giving specifics, but she would have a difficult time finding a market for disco ball bras and futuristic, butt-baring micro minis. More likely, she and the Haus of Gaga, her creative team that she is trying to model after Andy Warhol’s Factory, would produce slightly more marketable, but no less kooky ensembles based on some of the Lady’s key looks. Which means girls will possibly be wearing knock-offs of knock-offs as they practice speaking like a British robot wearing platinum wigs. Regardless of how she handles a clothing line, it will be anything but middle-of-the-road.

Lady Gaga vows to never lip synch

Posted by Amy on 16 May 2009,Filed under News.

Lady Gaga has vowed never to lip synch at a concert, insisting singers who perform along to recorded tracks aren’t real artists. The Just Dance hitmaker is adamant she would never mime the words to her songs, no matter how physically demanding her dance routines are.

And she believes fans deserve to hear her voice in live shows since they have already listened to her vocals on CD.

She says, “I would never even think about it (lip synching). The whole point to me is, if you’re gonna be number one, you better really be f***ing number one. If you’re gonna be on top, you better be able to do all those things, because it’s a real privilege to be able to make music everyday, and I get away with a lot.

“Andy Warhol says art is what you can get away with, and I get away with a lot with my music and my clothes, and I work really hard so I could truly be a real artist for all my fans. That’s really f***ed up when you lip-synch.”

Lady GaGa Hangs With Perez Hilton

Posted by Amy on 16 May 2009,Filed under News.

MTV UK - Lady GaGa has been hanging out backstage with showbiz blogger Perez Hilton at a gig this weekend. The singer demonstrated her unique fashion sense once again in a black leotard, leather jacket and square sunglasses. Hilton himself wore a garish leopard print Adidas T Shirt.

GaGa was performing at radio station KIIS FM’s Wango Tango and spotted gossip queen Perez in the VIP section at the event.

The blogger let his followers know who he was hanging out with by writing on Twitter: “Spending some quality time with GaGa.” He later posted about how ‘cute’ they looked together.

Perez Hilton is also good friends with Katy Perry and is regularly spotted out and about with the I Kissed A Girl star.

Lady Gaga ‘Very Pleased’ with new video

Posted by Amy on 16 May 2009,Filed under .

Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” and “Just Dance” are still burning up the charts and enjoying regular radio play, but she plans to keep it rolling and continue her pop-world domination with two new songs already on the horizon.

The New York native is excited about her new single, “Love Game,” and is eager for fans to check out the new video, directed by music-video vet Jonas Ĺkerlund, who has previously helmed clips for the Smashing Pumpkins, Madonna, Moby and U2. ” ‘Love Game’ is already on the radio, which is very exciting,” she told MTV News at the KIIS-FM Wango Tango music festival at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, California. “And I just finished my video for ‘Paparazzi,’ which I really am very pleased with the way that turned out. It’s like a short film.”

But the singer isn’t just releasing songs off The Fame album — she’s already hard at work on some new music. However, don’t expect the collection of tunes to make it onto a traditional album release — these songs are more like a thank-you letter to her devoted fans. (Those fans also include Madonna, Kanye West and the Pussycat Dolls, whom she toured with earlier this year.) “I also started writing more music and I’m planning to release approximately six new songs by the end of the year,” she explained. “I’m just putting it out there … I don’t function on the same industry timeline as everyone else.”

Sorry, Lady Gaga, The Jonas Brothers are not the new Beatles

Posted by Amy on 16 May 2009,Filed under News.

MTV.com - In an interview with British tabloid the Daily Star, Gaga revealed that the inspiration for her album, The Fame, was the Fab Four.

“I don’t know if anyone knows this about me, but when I wrote The Fame, I listened obsessively to the Beatles’ Abbey Road on repeat for probably about six months,” she told the paper. “It’s so incredibly brilliant — an innate sense of joy — they really had that down. It’s full of joy with a hat that tips to the melancholy.”

No arguments so far. The 1969 album contains some of the Beatles sharpest studio work: the rocking opener, “Come Together,” the sublime love song, “Something,” the slow-burning, face-melting “I Want You (She’s So Heavy).” I’m not going to say I see the direct connection to The Fame, but maybe that’s just me. In the Daily Star interview, Gaga gave props to the Beatles for being “responsible for the birth of the sexual revolution for women.”

But then Gaga drops this baffling nugget: “Now we have Jonas Brothers representing the return of the superfan.”

Maybe she was being sarcastic and the reporter simply didn’t pick up on it. Or, possibly, Gaga’s a hardcore JoBros groupie. Whatever the case, let’s dispel with this nonsense right now. Joe, Nick and Kevin aren’t representing the return of anything connected John, Paul, George and Ringo.
