Lady Gaga Almost Arrested in Russia

Posted by Amy on 02 May 2009,Filed under News.

Lady Gaga was almost arrested in Russia yesterday, here’s what she posted on her twitter:

They tried to arrest me in Russia, for leather at St. Basil’s. But all is calm in the red square, as I leave the east Parisbound.

Vintage Gaga: WWD Interview - August 13th, 2007

Posted by Amy on 26 Apr 2009,Filed under News.

While singer-songwriter Lady GaGa was in town here to play Lollapalooza, her itty-bitty black HotPants and high boots proved too much for one of Chicago’s finest. “You need to put your ass up against the fence,” the officer ordered. “There are children around here.” One citation for indecent exposure later, Lady GaGa remained amused. “There’s a huge festival with people doing cocaine and marijuana, and he’s busting me?” the 21-year-old New Yorker asked, adding jokingly, “I really wanted to get cuffed in a jumpsuit.”

Welcome to the wild, wacky world of Lady GaGa, an exhibitionistic performer who is turning heads, whether it be for her penchant for wearing underwear as outerwear or for her catchy, if somewhat recycled, Eighties-influenced synth pop songs. Although she has no qualms about lowering her keyboard to purposely bend over to reveal her cleavage, Lady GaGa prefers not to reveal her original name. “She’s not here anymore,” GaGa quipped about her alter ego. “She’s covered in sequins.”

Maybe that’s because her past seems a far cry from the 42nd Street stripper shops she frequents for fashion finds. GaGa, formerly known as Stefani Germanotta, the daughter of an Internet entrepreneur and a telecommunications executive, grew up on the Upper West Side and attended the all-girls Convent of the Sacred Heart with heiress Nicky Hilton. Not surprisingly, it wasn’t a perfect fit. Gaga got into trouble for hiking up her uniform skirt and wearing Converse sneakers. The fact that she arrived for class each day in full makeup and curled hair also didn’t go over well. “What are you, a lesbian? No one’s looking at you,” her classmates teased, GaGa said. “But I’m into theatrics,” she noted. “Every morning I like to look fabulous. I like to pretend I’m famous.” Though she’s not yet that celebrated, the girl who didn’t fit in in high school is getting noticed now — something that sets Lady GaGa aglow

Signed to Interscope Records but yet to release her first album, GaGa, who began playing the piano at age four and sneaking out to play coffee houses at 14, gained a following through her cheeky pop-burlesque shows at New York clubs and online. Fans could download songs “Boys, Boys, Boys,” “Beautiful, Dirty Rich,” “Disco Heaven” and “Dirty Ice Cream” from her MySpace page.

GaGa, who go-gos on the side and takes cues from Cher, David Bowie and Madonna, makes no excuses for her style. “This is my daywear,” she explained, indicating her animal-print bikini, pink sequined belt, black spandex leggings and black patent heels bought in a stripper shop. “I’m not comfortable in a T-shirt and jeans.”

The performer, who describes her look as “filthy, unacceptable,” makes some pieces herself, shopping at Manhattan’s M&J Trimming. She also buys ready-made leggings at American Apparel and gear from stripper shops on 42nd Street. “You know where they have the 25-cent video booths?” she asked. “Upstairs they have clothes.” Her DJ partner in crime is Lady Starlight, a “30-ish” sister go-go dancer who performed in a neon-green bikini and an Iron Maiden denim vest.“When someone sees a girl in a two-piece out on the town, people think she’s a ho,” Lady GaGa said. “We think that’s awesome. It’s rock ’n’ roll. [Something more conservative would be] like David Bowie doing Ziggy Stardust in a sweat suit. No one wants to see that.”

Lady GaGa doesn’t stop with a bikini and black eyeliner. She’ll throw in some granny pants underneath for good measure. “It’s got to be funny,” she said of her everyday attire. “I live for being different.”

That quirkiness brightened her show, which at times could seem unpolished. At Lollapalooza, a giant disco ball descended into the middle of the stage and Ladies GaGa and Starlight stood, frozen arms in the air, complete with fog machine for campiness. Between songs, they doused their dark tresses with cans of aerosol hair spray before attempting to set a stream of spray on fire.

“I didn’t want to sing about getting my heart broken or world peace,” said Lady GaGa, who performed in a bra she had glued with rows of mirrors to resemble a disco ball and skimpy black panties with mirrored trim. “Fashion and attitude and style, that’s what we breathe for. We joke that our full-time boyfriend is our vanity.”

So Lady GaGa, who’s not above doing some pole-dancing or spastic dance moves on stage, sings about partying, hangovers and text messaging boyfriends. “It’s a party,” she said. “Everything my [high school] friends made fun of me for is what people want more of,” she said. “More sequins, more spandex, yes, please.” Except, perhaps, one of Chicago’s finest.

‘Suppressed’ schoolgirl Lady Gaga

Posted by Amy on 26 Apr 2009,Filed under News.

Lady Gaga had to “suppress” herself during her schooldays. The ‘Poker Face’ singer - famed for her outrageous dress sense - liked to experiment with fashion when she was younger but was mocked by her peers so felt she could no longer express herself through clothes.

She said: “When I was at high school, I had to wear a uniform but I always bent the rules, by pulling my skirt up or shirt down and was told I was being too provocative. When we had off-days where we didn’t have to wear uniforms, I used to wear my outfits and I would really get made fun of. It lost me my self-confidence and I suppressed myself for a while.”

The ‘Just Dance’ singer also revealed her mother helped pick out her outfits and was happy to buy her unusual items of clothing.

She said: “My mom helped me express myself and she’d come home with items such as Spandex, air brush T-shirts, bright coloured visors and all things other people wouldn’t wear.”

LADY GAGA Singer's mad teacup rant

Posted by Marvin on 24 Apr 2009,Filed under News.

Lady Gaga has been shouting at her teacup. The 'Poker Face' singer, who is regularly photographed with the cup, is furious her cherished crockery is receiving more attention than she is. She said in a radio interview: "My teacup is so famous. I yelled at her today I said, 'You're stealing my thunder go to bed!' You know now it's a gimmick and it's just my teacup. That's my teacup that I like to take everywhere it makes me feel at home. It's become a celebrity." The 23-year-old star - who refuses to drink from any other cup - says the china set helps her cope with bouts of homesickness.

Lady Gaga scores Euro Chart double!

Posted by Amy on 24 Apr 2009,Filed under News.

Patience is a virtue for Lady Gaga, who completes her Europe-wide conquest by hitting the top of European Top 100 Albums for the first time with “The Fame” (Interscope/Universal) after five weeks at No. 2. “Poker Face” starts a ninth week at No. 1 on European Hot 100 Singles.

Lady Gaga’s album has taken 13 weeks to reach the pan-European summit, and takes the lead in its eighth straight week in the top three. It’s in a third week at No. 1 in the United Kingdom, where sales to last weekend had reached 362,000. “The Fame” also moves 2-1 in Ireland, 4-3 in Switzerland and holds at No. 5 in Germany and Finland.

Gaga thus ends U2’s six-week European reign with “No Line on the Horizon” (Mercury/Universal), which falls to No. 2 despite climbs of 3-2 in Holland, 7-3 in Denmark and 8-7 in Germany. It’s also steady at No. 3 in Poland but down 2-4 in Hungary, 3-4 in Portugal, 4-5 in Italy and 7-10 in France.

On the Eurochart, “Poker Face” loses top spot in Holland, Finland and Wallony, but retains it in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Flanders, to stay ahead of Flo-Rida’s “Right Round” (Atlantic/Warner Music), at No. 2 for a sixth week.

Lady Gaga Single No More

Posted by Amy on 22 Apr 2009,Filed under News.

Hitmaker Lady GaGa is single no more as In Touch Weekly has reported that she is dating a Los Angeles entrepreneur identified as Speedy. First meeting on the set of the singer's music video "LoveGame," both of them are said to have been dating for a month.

"They were just friends for a while, but recently things got serious," an insider says in a statement. "They have a lot in common and are totally crazy about each other." Greater than that, Lady GaGa also asks Speedy to join her on her "Fame" tour, which will end in September. "He makes her really happy, and they are having fun right now," adds the insider.

Said to have been inseparable in recent weeks, Lady GaGa and her leading man were caught kissing on the set of her music video "Paparazzi" in Malibu last Sunday, April 12. The following day, they visited Katsuya in Brentwood. There they were "all over each other, cuddling in the corner," a witness tells

In Touch Weekly. No comment has been made by Lady GaGa herself regarding report of her new boyfriend. Her people also haven't issued a single word on the matter.

Lady Gaga is not letting her beloved teacup and saucer out of her sight

Posted by Amy on 22 Apr 2009,Filed under News.

The US star was spotted leaving Radio One this morning with a firm grip on her favourite china, days after misplacing it.

The raunchy Poker Face singer, 23 — who takes the floral cup everywhere — accidentally left it with its saucer at a top Central London restaurant.

She twigged back at her five-star hotel and sent a black cab to the Metropolitan Hotel to fetch them.

The driver charged £35 for Friday’s return trip to Blakes Hotel, in Kensington, West London.

Mystery surrounds why Lady GaGa, who performed at February’s Brit Awards dressed as a teacup, is fixated with the crockery.
She sipped ginger tea from the cup during Thursday’s filming of Friday Night with JONATHAN ROSS.

Ross welcomed the American — real name Stefani Germanotta — to the sofa saying: “You’ve brought your tea out in your beautiful teacup.”

But just hours later she left it at the restaurant.

A source said: “She kicked up a stink and demanded someone get her cup and saucer back.

“She wouldn’t drink out of anything else. It just looked like any other cup and saucer to me and said ‘Made in China’ on the bottom. It seemed a lot of fuss over nothing.”

A spokesman for Lady GaGa said: “Lady GaGa does not want to reveal anything about the teacup itself, but drinking ginger tea is very good for singers.”
