Lady Gaga : ‘Petite’ Lady Gaga uses computer trickery to look taller

Posted by Amy on 15 Apr 2009,Filed under News.

Singer-songwriter Lady Gaga’s short height has forced her to use computer tricks to appear taller in her music videos.

And the 23-year-old singer, who’s 5 feet and 1 inch tall, admits that she’s not the only short star to use the tactic.

“They use this trick where they can make you look bigger than you are,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“It’s great - I am not alone in using this trick. Lots of girls do it, you know,” she added.

Lady Gaga's larger-than-life stage show shrinks without a band!

Posted by Amy on 15 Apr 2009,Filed under News.

Lady Gaga's sold-out club show on Wednesday night at Fort Lauderdale Is your Fort Lauderdale restaurant clean? - Click Here.'s Revolution Live looked like a test run for arenas. But it sounded like an open-mike tryout.

The media-enhanced performance given by this jet-blonde disco singer was a curious mix of big and small, blockbuster and low-budget. Lady Gaga seemed to be doubling down and simultaneously hedging on the proposition that her next set of venues will be massive.

There were introductory short films, gaudy props and wardrobe, and a trio of dancers. But there were no bandmates save for a DJ who ran pre-recorded backing tracks and played some guitar. Lady Gaga also accompanied herself at a white piano that looked like an expensive modernist computer table.

The ambivalence of the production fit almost too neatly into the whole Lady Gaga vs. Pop Stardom duality thesis that dominates her debut album, The Fame. She wants "the fame" desperately even as she recognizes its capacity to seduce and destroy. But of course she'll take it if it's there.

"Some say that Lady Gaga is a lie," she said at one point. "And they're right. I am a lie. . . .And every day I kill to make it true."

The ominous notes were lightened a bit by songs including Just Dance, Poker Face, Lovegame, Paparazzi, Money Honey, Starstruck, Boys Boys Boys and the calypso-styling Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say). Lady Gaga is smartly triangulating the work of veterans: Picture Madonna with more melancholy, Tracey Thorn with more spleen, and a PG-13 version of Peaches' stark, highly sexualized dance music.

Lady Gaga also exhibited a show-tune streak, with outlandish costumes and a cabaret vibe that suggested she's seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show more than once.

Short reels starring Lady Gaga as an alter ego, "Candy Warhol," all cryptic dialogue and blank expressions, were apparently meant to give the concert an existential twist. Instead they recalled the German art-film ridiculousness of the old Calvin Klein "Obsession" ads. Madonna is still the teacher when it comes to incorporating the raw material of non-musical fine arts into a live pop show.

But Lady Gaga has enough talent, ambition and magnetism to be the heir apparent. Her fans on Wednesday night demonstrated Madonna-like devotion. Some waved facsimilies of Lady Gaga's lighted "disco stick"-- basically a scepter. And many sang, with and without the star's prompting. A crowd-only verse of Poker Face, aimed at an empty stage, helped coax Lady Gaga back for encores.
